Dental fillings Zurich
We offer you the latest composite fillings on the market. You can choose between different tooth colours and properties, depending on your individual situation.
The appearance of the teeth, especially the front teeth, largely depends on different lighting conditions. With composite fillings, this is considered so that the newly filled teeth are as similar as possible to the surrounding teeth. At ZahnCity, we work with the latest technology and highly aesthetic resin. In cases where most of the chewing surface needs to be replaced, or for patients with teeth grinding problems, we recommend porcelain fillings, which are significantly more durable and wear off less quickly. The procedure is similar to the insertion of crowns, but more of the patient's own tooth is left in place.

Composite or porcelain fillings
We do not use metal fillings (amalgam) in our dental practice. These alloys contain mercury, which is harmful to the brain and nervous system in its free form. However, the risk when used in the mouth is low, as only small amounts are released due to the corrosive effect. According to the latest research, the use of mercury in society is increasing so that foods such as meat or vegetables often contain a higher amount of mercury in its critical form than metal fillings. For reasons of aesthetics, but also in view of the amount of tooth structure that must be removed for the use of metal fillings, we do not recommend using this type of filling.
Researchers are still investigating the risks of amalgam fillings. What is clear is that amalgam fillings are subject to constant corrosion. This means that this type of filling expands over time, which ultimately leads to fractures of the surrounding parts of the tooth. We therefore recommend our patients who have amalgam fillings to replace them with composite or porcelain fillings before the teeth break. At the same time, you will achieve better aesthetics.
