Teeth whitening / teeth bleaching

A shining smile gives you self-confidence and makes you look more vital. Professional bleaching will make your teeth visibly brighter. The treatment can be carried out either at home or, if preferred, at your dentist's practice. 

Every person is born with an individual colour shade of their tooth enamel. That is genetically and some teeth can be affected during their development. However the most common problem is the discoloration we get with time, due to exposure to different substances. The most common reasons for discoloration are food, beverages and smoking. 

A dental cleaning can remove plaque and dental stone and partially superficial discoloration, but some of the discoloration penetrates the enamel. This cannot be removed with a cleaning procedure. Since late 1980s, dentistry started to use bleaching as an option to regain a satisfying colour of the teeth. 

At ZahnCity we offer you two ways of bleaching: 

• Power Bleaching with Opalescence Boost (without lamp) or Fläsh (with lamp).  
• Homebleaching (For this an individual aligner is produced, with which you can bleach yourself at home) 

Bleaching in the dental practice / power bleaching

White teeth in just 90 minutes! Power bleaching in the clinic is done in a short time using a highly concentrated bleaching gel. A specially developed UV lamp is used to enhance the effect of the bleaching. 

Protective material is placed over the gums and a concentrated bleaching gel is applied to the teeth, which acts on the tooth surface for 15 minutes. The gel is then removed by suction and a new layer is applied. This process is repeated 2-3 times. 

In the first few weeks after treatment, it is normal for the teeth to be slightly more sensitive to cold. We recommend using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth during this time. A general check-up and professional teeth cleaning should also be done before treatment. There is a risk in bleaching teeth, if the teeth are affected by caries or the gums are inflamed. This can lead to more serious problems.
