Ceramic crowns / bridges

Artificial crowns and bridges which appear as your own teeth!

Sometimes the crown of the tooth is heavily broken, weakened or discolored. Caries, fractures and big old fillings are usually the reasons. To extend the tooth´s life span or change the appearance, we recommend you to coat it with an all-ceramic crown.

An artificial crown works like a permanent cover over the whole tooth, which enable all edges and defects to be sealed inside. The only crown margin there is can be found under the gums and closed by cement.

By using an all-ceramic crown makes it easy for us to create the best tooth aesthetics and most optimal appearance of the surrounding gums. Older artificial crowns were made by metal and a layer of ceramic. This creates a line of metal which shines through the gums or is revealed when gums recede. Furthermore an all-ceramic crown creates a healthy contact with the gums. With all these benefits we only work with all-ceramic crowns and bridges.

Important to know is that our all-ceramics are made as one-piece ceramics. Some dental technician use methods which create a hard ceramic core with a more fragile ceramic layer on the outside. This often leads to damages called chip-off which are hard to repair without doing a completely new crown. At ZahnCity we use Bruxir in the back and Empress in the front; both are one-piece ceramics and can never be chipped off.

When you lose one or more teeth and we encounter limitations with implant treatment, an option could be a bridge. The gap that occurs due to the loss of tooth/teeth can be filled with a hanging crown/s. Gap-surrounding teeth acts like posts with crowns which support the bridge construction. A bridge is actually several crowns connected to each other in one segment which makes the construction very strong.

All-ceramic crowns and bridges are also used when you have implants. They are fixed onto the implants permanently with screws.
